Signify, the company behind Philips Hue, has eliminated 99.9% of plastics from its product packaging. The redesigned packaging uses bio-based materials, improving recyclability and minimizing environmental impact, contributing to a reduction in CO₂ emissions of 6,000 tonnes per year.
6. Hiro Technologies’ MycoDigestible Diapers
Austin-based startup Hiro Technologies has introduced eco-friendly disposable diapers integrated with fungi that help biodegrade the plastic material. The diapers aim to address the estimated 4 million tons of diaper waste generated annually in the U.S., where traditional diapers can take centuries to decompose.
